The workshop takes a hands on approach on "How to draw up a documentary budget" and then go one step further to look at funding applications like the Hot Docs Blue Ice fund and other applications.
And an in depth look at the various NFVF funding available as well as the DTI Film & TV Production and Post Production Incentive and the Emerging Black Filmmakers Incentive.

TINY MUNGWE is a South African filmmaker and arts manager. She currently works at STEPS in Cape Town, producing a documentary series on migration called Generation Africa. She previously worked as a director on the popular SABC 1 drama Uzalo. She was programmes manager at the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN) where she organized Time of the Writer, Poetry Africa, Jomba! and the Industry Programme of the Durban International Film Festival.
LIEZEL VERMEULEN is a freelance Line Producer specialising in the development phase of projects, especially budgeting and has extensive experience in administering the dti Film and TV incentive for documentary, animation and live action projects and has contributed to dti policy papers in the areas of animation, post-production and documentary incentives. Her background is in lecturing documentary theory and practice at university level, producing factual series and she is also the communications manager for the Documentary Filmmakers Association (DFA) and the Independent Producers Organisation (IPO).
XOLELWA NOMGCA & YOLANDA NCOKOTWANA from the National Film and Video Foundation will discuss the NFVF's funding opportunities for development, production, marketing and distribution of films and also the training and development of filmmakers.
NELLY MOLOKOANE will discuss the Department of Trade & Industry's incentives to promote film production and post-production. Including the South African Film and Television Production and Co-Production incentive, and the South African Emerging Black Filmmakers incentive, which aims to assist local emerging black filmmakers to nurture and grow them to take up big productions and thus contribute towards employment creation.
