Football legend Michael Ballack speaks to Redi Tlhabi on Al Jazeera

This week all eyes are on South Africa with the opening of the African Cup of Nations. On Al Jazeera this Friday, South2North host Redi Tlhabi is joined by football legend Michael Ballack to speak about both his retirement at the end of last year and the continuing battle against HIV/AIDS.

Ballack is a UN AIDS ambassador who uses his popularity to promote safe-sex practices.

Michel Sidibe, executive director of UN AIDS and the Under-General-Secretary of the United Nations, and South African professor Lynn Morris will also be in studio.

Morris leads a research team for South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases. At the end of last year, they announced that they had made a significant breakthrough in the search for an HIV vaccine.

Tlhabi asks about prejudice, stigma and hope for a possible vaccine.

South2North can be seen each week at the following times GMT:

Friday: 1930
Saturday: 1430
Sunday: 0430
Monday: 0830
