Kosta Kalarytis, the director and producer of the award-winning local feature ‘Dora’s Peace’, is in the process of developing an exciting new project under his production company, One Man Band.
Written by ‘Dora’s Peace’ screenwriter Andrew Herold, ‘The Exile’ is a psychological action thriller set in present-day Joburg, a tale of revenge, family disloyalty and blurred reality.
Kalarytis is in the process of putting together a strong local cast for ‘The Exile’, which will feature an international lead actor. Principal photography to begin later in the year and the film will be released in cinemas in 2019.
Dora’s Peace won the Best South African Feature Film at the Jozi International Film Festival in 2016 as well as winning a SAFTA award for Best Supporting Actress for Hlubi Mboya. The film travelled internationaly in 2017 and garnered awards for lead actress Khabonina Qubeka and director Kosta Kalarytis at the Boston International Film Festival. It also screened at the Orlando International Film Festival in the USA and at the Beijing International Film Festival, Forward Future section in China.
