Cilla Lowen, a Cape Town based screenwriter, has won the Best Script Award at the Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York with her feature film script ‘A Mother’s Legacy’.
Cilla Lowen, based in Cape Town, has thirty-two years' experience in the communications industry. She holds a Masters Degree in General Linguistics and has a background in Anthropology.
All her screenwriting projects have achieved national or international listings or awards.
Cilla's docudrama feature script, 'A Mother's Legacy', achieved Best Script Award at the Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York in 2016. The script has Sara Blecher as Director and Brigid Olen of DO Productions as Producer.
Her Sitcom pilot 'Harry's Harvest' was listed as a semi-finalist (half-point from from finals) in the USA TV Writer Spec Scriptacular run by Larry Brody.
Cilla's latest screenplay, 'The Handyman', a faith-based Made-for-TV- Movie, was a finalist in the Writers' Guild of SA 2016 Muse Awards, TV Drama - Spec Script category.
In 2016 she also completed a VR immersive script for Dubai Frame's Past and Future Zones (Dubai Municipality) for Wicked Pixels as well as a 26 x 5 minute Sitcom series for KMP Productions. She recently completed a script adaptation for a feature for WeDo Film Productions (London), currently with Kalahari Pictures and director Darrell Roodt. She's currently working on a true-life crime drama for Box Screen Pictures that will be a SA/Canada co-production.
