Television and Documentary company requires a Senior Production Manager. We are a well-established production company with strong values that makes films that aim to change the way people view our natural world and indigenous societies.
Applicants need to have similar values and an eagerness to make the world a better place. We seek a truly dedicated person who will go the extra mile to help realise our objectives.
The Senior Project Manager will work as part of an integrated team of scientists, filmmakers and environmentalist. He or she needs to be available when necessary, will be going into the field a fair amount, will be travelling between Gauteng and Cape Town often, and on occasion may need to 'rough it' in distant and exotic locations.
We are a small production team, with relatively few productions. Several have a run & gun, fast-paced style and require the production to be reactive.
As the primary organising agent, the candidate must also be prepared to do what is necessary to assist in the overall smooth running of the company, while managing the details required to realise our projects in a cost-effective manner. The successful candidate will manage and fully participate in project development. He or she will manage the logistics of remote shoots from inception up until project completion - which includes providing support to the post-production manager to ensure timely delivery of products. The person will also engage in business driven tasks such preparing film festivals entries, seeking sponsorship and crowd funding, proposal writing, social media and marketing.
Scriptwriting, camerawork, editing and experience in the documentary world are advantageous but not essential. We are not so much interested in candidates who see production management as short term stepping stone to shooting their own films, as we are interested in meeting someone who sees production management as their dedicated profession, with the potential to grow into a co-producer role. In short, we require a committed person who is a highly capable organiser, time-conscious, reliable, thorough, a self-starter, and who can embrace unpredictability rather than be scared off by it.
If this sounds like a match, we look forward to having you on board!
To apply: please email your CV and a cover letter supporting your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org by 25 February 2018.
