You are an experienced photographic retoucher who wants to learn to be a video colourist / grader, the part you enjoy the most about retouching images is the colour, balancing the exposure, and the overall tone of an image.
Making the global colour and tone manipulations in Capture One / Lightroom is really what you have enjoyed most about image editing over the years as opposed to the detail focused work of retouching out blemishes. You have decided you want to learn to be a video colourist.
So this is the perfect job for you.
You do not need to be an Davinci Resolve expert, not just yet anyways. But you do need to be comfortable with navigating the Davinci Resolve software and getting up to speed it quickly.
This is a junior position so a lot of training will be given as you learn the technicalities of colour grading. What we can’t teach you though is how to see. You need to have an eye for colour and tone and a feeling of how to balance and image, the technical understanding can come later. We will need to see some work that shows you’ve got an eye for this and have good taste in imagery, even if it’s just stills you have worked on.
If you are already a whizz with Davinci then great, if you have experience working with Arri / Red footage even better.
From a technical point of view, you need to understand video formats or at least be the kind of person who enjoys this stuff and picks it up quickly.
What’s the difference between proress 422HQ and Proress4444?
If you don’t know the answer that’s fine, but if you don’t genuinely enjoy reading up on this and figuring it out then this is not the job for you.
Not only should you enjoy getting to grips with understanding this kind of technical aspect of video, you should be a person who gets it easily because you will be responsible for grading all video created at Moose. We will be relying on you to make our footage look beautiful.
